Draft. This page describes how the game is built today and is being reviewed by our lawyers before the game is published. It will change before then.
What we do not collect
No advertising ID, no Android ID, no phone number, no contacts and no precise location — from anyone. There are no ads and no third-party analytics, attribution or advertising code in the game. We do not ask for your email address.
Players are treated as children until the age check says otherwise
Every account starts in kid-safe mode. We store an age band and the country you chose, not a birth date. Kid-safe accounts have no free text, no chat and no tracking, and their names are made from a fixed list of words.
What we keep, and why
- A random account id and a random id for your phone — to run your account.
- Your ghost's name — it is shown to other players.
- Your age band and country — to decide which rules apply to you.
- Your progress: coins, Ectoplasm, levels, skills, the places you have claimed.
- Haunts you build and runs you play — so others can visit them and watch replays, and so we can check scores are genuine.
- Reports and feedback you send — so we can act on them. Kid-safe reports carry a preset reason only, with no words and no link to the player or run.
- Your phone's model, Android version and graphics level, when you send feedback or a crash report — to fix bugs.
- Crash reports, for players who are not in kid-safe mode only. When the game hits an error, it records the error, where in the game's code it happened and the last few lines the game wrote to its own log, with the game's version, your phone's model and its Android version, and sends them to us the next time you open the game's home screen — to find and fix the bug. A report is linked to your account, kept for 90 days and then deleted. Kid-safe accounts send no crash reports at all. No third-party crash service is used.
- IP addresses in our server logs only, for security, never joined to your account, and kept for 30 days.
Data is stored by us on Microsoft Azure. Google Play handles payments; we keep only the reference it gives us.
Kept on your phone only
Your settings, and which first-time tips you have already seen, are stored on your phone and never sent to us.
A copy of your data
In the game, go to Settings and press Request my data. A few minutes later the same button opens your copy in your browser; the link works for 7 days. You can also email support@faxtorial.com with your account code.
Deleting your account
See Delete your account for how, and what is deleted and kept.
